The UN warns that 75% of the world’s soils are degraded… and if we don’t change course, that number could reach 90% by 2050.

- 📊 It can store more than 8,580 gigatons of carbon, almost 10 times more than the atmosphere.
- 🌿 The topsoil layer (30 cm) alone holds about 680 gigatons of carbon, nearly twice as much as all the planet’s vegetation.
- 🛠 Restoring degraded soils could capture up to 63 gigatons of CO₂, a major move in the fight against climate change.
- 🕳 Every year, we lose between 36 and 75 billion tons of fertile soil, up to 40 times faster than it naturally regenerates.

- 🧬 Soil is home to 59% of all known species, including nearly 90% of fungi, 85% of plant species, and more than 50% of bacteria.
