In a world shaken by climate crises, geopolitical tensions, and social challenges, hope is blooming in a symbolic place: the Amazon. The city of Belém, Brazil, will host COP30—the UN Climate Change Conference—which in November 2025 will mark a new chapter for global climate action.
At Clean Energy, we firmly believe that now is the time to plant concrete, collaborative, and sustainable solutions. Because while the path ahead isn’t easy, collective action is possible.
🌍What to expect from COP30
This gathering will bring together representatives from nearly 200 countries in a region as vital as it is vulnerable. And this won’t be just any meeting. COP30 will include:
- The 30th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP)
- The 20th meeting of the Kyoto Protocol
- The 7th session of the Paris Agreement
- Key scientific and technical sessions (SBSTA and SBI)
In the words of André Corrêa do Lago, President-elect of COP30, this summit must be a turning point: “We need to move from words to transformative action on the ground.”
🔥Global challenges, urgent solutions
The current landscape is complex: armed conflicts across continents, financial instability, and a worrying retreat of some nations—like the United States—from multilateral cooperation frameworks. Still, the need to act is more urgent than ever.
Current national pledges—known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)—are not enough to keep global warming below 1.5°C, as agreed in the Paris Agreement. In fact, many projections suggest we’re headed for a rise above 2°C, which could have irreversible consequences.
“Our survival depends on it,” stated Anne Rasmussen, Samoa’s lead negotiator, representing Small Island Developing States.
🌿Why is this COP different?
Because it’s no longer just about signing new agreements—it’s about implementing what’s already been agreed upon. As Ana Toni, Executive Director of COP30, puts it: “Most of the big topics have already been discussed. Now it’s time to make sure they happen.”
The real highlight will be the new national climate plans that countries must submit ahead of the summit. These documents will shape the course of global climate action for years to come.
And in the middle of it all, the Amazon becomes not only the host, but the symbol. An ecosystem that reminds us what’s truly at stake.
🤝What now?
COP30 won’t be a magic wand—but it is a unique opportunity to reignite international cooperation, boost climate ambition, and plant the seeds of a greener, fairer future.
In times of change, planting solutions is more than a metaphor—it’s an urgent need. And at Clean Energy, we continue to cultivate hope, innovation, and action.
