In Colombia, sustainability is no longer just a goal — it’s a mission… and it’s in the hands of our soldiers, sailors, and pilots!
As part of International Environment Month, the Colombian Military Forces have made it clear that their commitment to the country goes far beyond territorial defense.
Tolemaida: Solar energy in service of the nation
One of the brightest milestones to date is the installation of a photovoltaic system at the Tolemaida Military Base. With this solution, 34% of its energy demand will be covered by the sun, avoiding the emission of over 116,300 tons of CO₂ in the next 20 years. The scale? Equivalent to planting 311,000 trees… a green battalion!
The Navy sets course toward carbon neutrality
The Strategic Energy Transition Plan ‘Gaia’ is the rudder steering the National Navy toward clean seas. With four strategic lines and a clear vision for 2055, they achieved a 6.8% carbon footprint reduction in 2024 and now lead the Energy Transition Roundtable for the Maritime Sector.
Aerospace Force: pioneers in efficiency
Since 2010, the Colombian Aerospace Force has been setting an example from the skies, with projects including solar LED lighting, hybrid air conditioners, and solar fields. Thanks to these efforts, they have prevented the emission of more than 73,800 tons of CO₂.
A new way to defend: sustainability as strategy
The Colombian Military Forces are proving that protecting the country also means safeguarding its biodiversity, water sources, air, and future. Sustainability is not a campaign accessory — it’s a flag proudly flown at every base, aboard every vessel, and in every mission.
