The Clean Technologies Institute (ITL – Chile) has opened its First Open Innovation Call 2025, a strategic initiative designed to accelerate technological solutions capable of transforming mining and advancing Latin America’s energy transition.
With 14 specialized challenges, this call seeks projects that improve efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and strengthen the competitiveness of key industrial processes — from mineral transport and water-efficient tailings to clean electromobility, advanced batteries, and emissions reduction.

The call is open to organizations and legal entities, both national and international, that can propose innovative technological solutions aligned with ITL’s priority areas.

The goal of this call is to pilot, validate, scale, and demonstrate new technologies that address the most pressing challenges of low-impact mining and the energy transition.
Applicants may submit proposals in one or several of the 14 challenge categories, including:
- Massive material movement (surface, pits & underground)
- Mineral selectivity during transport
- Water-efficient tailings and improved deposition
- Optimization of flotation and leaching
- Total mineral recovery
- Integrated particulate matter emissions management
- In-situ copper leaching
- Efficient lixiviation of primary sulfides
- Reduction of GHG emissions in mining processes
- Intelligent power systems for mining electromobility
- Innovations in energy storage and charging
- National capabilities for validation, certification & scaling
- Solar plant operation and maintenance innovation
